The Poor Clare Monastery of Our Lady of Guadalupe was
founded in Roswell, New Mexico in 1948. Our monastery is an institute of
the contemplative life, dedicated to the praise and worship of God
according to the charism of the Second Order of St. Francis. As given in
the Rule of St. Clare, the sisters observe the Holy Gospel of
our Lord Jesus Christ as their form of life, by living the
solemn vows of obedience, poverty, and chastity, to which is
added the fourth vow of enclosure.

Their simple life of prayer, work, and penance
unfolds exclusively within the intense and joyous family
atmosphere of the papal enclosure, as they “strive to
serve and help everyone in the world in a truly sisterly
and motherly way, animated by love for all men with the
tenderness of Christ himself” (Art. 96 (1),
Constitutions of the Poor Clare Federation of Mary
Immaculate in the United States of America).
Mother Mary Angela, P.C.C., abbess, and all the sisters
